Week 18 Sketches

For my observational this week I drew a toy of Yoshi I have from Mario Kart, I did this one pretty fast and feel it went well, the perspective is readable and you can tell how the shape of the toy works, some parts are a little off, but nothing that ruins it.

My creative I drew in the park, I decided to do a Pepsi max bottle as an astronaut  the design is simple and the perspective of the writing is off, but I enjoyed the idea and sketching it out.

Week 17 Sketches

My creative and observational drawing this week were on the same piece of paper. For my creative I did a quick mock of the Skeletal structure of the Pokemon "Muk", this went alright, it was something interesting to think about, however I think it bares more thought than a quick sketch, the structure I drew also wasn't overall practical, as it wasn't my design it was also more of a guessing game.

My observational is of some objects on a desk, to practive simple perspective and lighting again, increasing my understanding of how basic object work in perspective. However I don't think the perspective on the phone is quite right here.

Week 16 Sketches

For my observation I drew a figure of Super Sonic. The shape and tone went well, however the hands and feet were a bit small.

For my creative I didn't really plan what I was drawing, I just drew what came into my head as I was moving along. I ended up drawing and slightly mad looking robot with fire suggested in the background. I feel I could have made the perspective better on this, however I like the design and feel that with a little improvement I could have a nice, simple and crazy robot.

Week 15 Sketches

For my creative this week I drew some boxes in perspective to map out a spaceship, I want to take this further and add some design and draw the spaceship properly, with some other sketches to help.

My observational is of three dragons, I think I could have made this better due to the value on each dragon being different, but in my sketch coming across as the same.

Week 14 Sketches

My creative this week is a humonoid mouse in a trench coat smoking. I feel this went well, the perspective was good, however the lighting and detail was basic.
I draw headphones for my observational, I drew where the highlight would be and added the cast shadow. I think some of the size and perspective could have been better here, I could have worked in a bit more detail into the line drawing.

Week 13 Sketches

This week I first sketched a very quick idea for a scene, this was very rough, hopefully for a future speed paint.

A hitchhicker with a sign on his head. I messed around with the proportions on this one with big hands, feet and arms and a short height. I think the hands could have been better on this one, and the right elbow.

For my observation I drew a toy airplane, I drew where the lightest parts were and added a cast shadow.

Week 12 Sketches

This week for my creative I drew my imagining of King Nathan, King of Tigers from a story of my friend's.

For my observational I drew a PS2 controller, I was at a strange perspective with this one but that isn't too bad, the challenge for me was capturing the reflective surface of the contoller.

Week 11 Sketches

This week for my observation I drew a small plushie parrot keyring, I liked the round shapes and some of the little detail in the fur.

For my creative I did 2 rough character sketches, one a robotic/armoured design, the other was more organic.

Week 10 Sketches

This week I started my creative sketch by doing a quick 30 second sketch with my eyes closed.

I then took some of the skapes and ideas from that sketch to do a more polished one.

I also drew this week 2 viewpoints of a character design.

For my observational this week I used a 0.3mm mechanical pencil to sketch a jacket, toaster and skirt.

Week 9 Sketches

This week I drew a hand puppet I have for my observational whilst he was on my arm and making it ache. I first drew it in pencil and then added some more definition with pen.

My creative was inspired by the anime series called "Deadman Wonderland". This was done first in pencil, then all in ink/pen.

Week 8 Sketches

This week I drew a projector in pen for my observational, I liked the perspective and how the wires overlap. I tried to use more subtle shading using lines on this one

My creative was a battle in space between 2 planet, A4 and in mostly pencil with a little pen

Week 7 Sketches

This week for my creative art I drew a visualization of the first chapter of Guardians Of Ga'hoole: The Rescue, called "Blood Dawn"

For my observational I drew 2 small Nerf guns

Week 6 Sketches

The creative drawing of this week is an ink fan art drawing of Po from Kung Fu Panda

For observational drawing I drew my favourite DVD series, album and book but left the covers blank

I also did a sketch of Monika's Owl pulishie

Week 5 Sketches

The creative drawing this week is a draft of a concept I have called The Firefly Legend. The scene is 2 people in battle with one deflecting the shot of the other. Once we have done more lighting I plan to go back to this and add tone, or do a version with a more dramatic perspective.

This is a drawing of the view from the crop field near the student village. On a cold day I went out and drew this with gloves on. The sun was hidden behind thick, dark clouds.

Week 4 Sketches

For my creative sketch I drew 2 owls with armour on thier heads fighting above a volcano. This is inspired by the book series "Guardians of Ga'hoole" by Kathryn Lasky, and similar pieces of art inspired by the same series.

My creative drawing was a drawing of the view out of the window in my room. I drew this straight to pen.

Week 3 Sketches

In week 3 I decided to make my drawings a bit happier . I first drew 2 kinder toys of a lion cub and a motor bike.

I then drew a spinning top that I got from a kinder egg. I exaggerated the perspective though that did cause the perspective to be a little off.

In this drawing I decided to draw a character draft, loosely inspired by the Mega Man or Kamen Rider series. I made his hand come out toward the viewer and gave him armour, as well as a strange energy coming from his hands and a scalf flowing behind him.

I traced over him in pen to caputure the shape, erased the underlying pencil and used pencil to start adding tone.

I finished all the colour and shading however the pencil got overexposed in the scan.
In the top left you can also see another drawing of a blackstar as in my week 1 drawing.

Week 2 Sketches

My Sketches on the second week followed a Halloween/horror theme.

This first drawing is a pen drawing of a halloween skull that I decided to buy and to draw.

The next drawing is of a death slide I decided to draw from a slide reference photo. I did a few perspective and shape guide lines in pencil and drew the rest in pen. I did shading and kept the shapes mostly simple.

I then used strong black and red pens to create heavy areas of shadow and to make the blood in the scene stand out.

Week 1 Sketches

In the first week I drew an observation sketch of a toy Panda and a toy Rhino. I also drew an imaginary sketch based on a song called "The Seven Sisters".

A sketch in 2B of 2 kinder egg toys.

A sketch inspired by the song "The Seven Sisters" by "Celldweller". I started the sketch in pencil and then inked it over with black pen.

The drawing contains a mysterious figure standing on a planet, in landscape is a representation on the northen lights, a representation of the stars of Orion as planets, the seven stars of the Plaedies as black stars and Saturn.

I finalised the picture by using different colured inks and pencils.

In photoshop I created a dark greyscale representation of the image.
